BEAUTY: Clothing--Pitti Uomo Street Style SS'18

The twice-yearly trade show Pitti Uomo wrapped up today and the buyers, fashion journalists, and bloggers who attend are often as interestingly dressed (sometimes more so) as the clothing inside Florence's Fortezza da Basso, where the show is held. I used to title these posts "The Peacocks of Pitti Uomo" but for this year's Spring Summer 2018 Pitti, the dress code seemed to be loosened up. I do love how Italian men dress, and I love the fact that even though it may be summer, they will still wear a full suit...or at least long sleeves, worn down, never rolled up. But perhaps it was the fact that it was beyond sweltering in Florence for this installment of Pitti Uomo, and perhaps this coupled with the fact that over the last decade, the industry has seen itself deconstructed with abstract, architectural pieces by the likes of Rick Owens leading the style direction...these things could explain why we saw less classic suiting, and more eclectic styling.

And for a finale, here is Stefano Pilati in a pair of cloven-toed platform boots! YES!
